Join the Free Drawing School live online every Monday at 10am.
A different drawing challenge is announced each week for you to get involved with at home between 10am-12pm guided live with an artist.
The Free Drawing School Online continues over the summer with many more challenges as we invite lots of guest artists to design the weekly challenge for you to join in with.
The Free Drawing School challenges are designed to be done at home with the resources you can bring together from your drawers and cupboards.
The details of the challenge will be announced here and on social media at 10.00am.
You will have two hours in which to complete the challenge and post your work either in the comments on the Facebook event for others to see or on twitter or instagram with the hashtag #freedrawingschool.
You can also email your outcomes to email@example.com
The Free Drawing School is made possible with generous funding support from The Robertson Trust and The National Heritage Lottery Fund.
The next Free Drawing School online is on Monday 7 Sept at 10am and led by Kirsty McKeown. Find out what materials you need in advance.
The next drawing challenge will link in with a workshop at Hospitalfield and will form part of the re-design of the drawing studio that takes inspiration from dazzle ships and the planned redesign of the Hospitalfield gardens. Don’t worry if you can’t attend the workshop in person, you can still take part and contribute to giving the drawing shed a makeover.
We will use templates that are available to download and you can print these out in advance of Monday. There are three to choose from so feel free to pick the choose the ones you like best. If you aren’t able to print them out you can still freehand your drawings if you wish.
I’ll be back with you on Monday morning with more info and instructions.
See you all soon”

Free Drawing School Online by Kirsty McKeown
For this weeks challenge I am inviting you to contribute to a bright new look for the drawing studio at Hospitalfield. I have created some drawings that take inspiration from dazzle ships and the planned redesign of the Hospitalfield gardens and turned them into templates.
Print out a template and fill it in however you like; it could be paint, or ink, you might want to collage into it or you could even chop it up and stick it all back together again before you fill it in. I will be collecting your drawings and turning them into a Free Drawing School flag that will be flown over the drawing studio!
Download templates from this link.
Once you have completed your template(s); scan or photograph them and send them to volunteer@hospitalfield. If you don’t mind parting with the original you can send them into Hospitalfield where I can scan them for you.
Alongside this there will be an in-person workshop taking place on Saturday 12th September at Hospitalfield where participants can contribute to large painted panels that will then be used to clad the drawing studio in a brightly patterned new look. The workshop will be socially distanced with sanitised materials and no sharing of equipment outside of your household group. The workshop is free but should be booked in advance. More information and tickets are available on the Hospitalfield website.
I really hope that some of you are able to join us at the workshop, it would be lovely to finally meet you all in person.
Can’t wait to see what you all come up with.”
