Residencies at Hospitalfield begun on 17 May when we welcomed artists and practitioners participating in the Interdisciplinary Residency programme to Hospitalfield for two weeks with our new guidance to ensure a safe and yet still discursive time while in residence. The group included Alex Allan, Ieva Grigelionyte, Ione Maria Rojas, Lindsay Boyd, Georgie Fay, Fiona McGurk, Camilla Brueton and Phoebe Eustance.
We are pleased to announce artist Amy Jones as the Lead Artist for Hospitalfield’s Young Artist Club. Amy will be joined by Art Education Assistants Kristina Aburrow and Rachel Simpson.
On Wednesday 5 May we revealed a new film, ‘behind the scenes’ of the collections at Hospitalfield, which was followed by a discussion with the conservators Gail Egan & Henry Matthews from Egan, Matthews & Rose with Hospitalfield’s Scott Byrne. Part of a research programme developed as we embark on the journey of conservation; the collection of paintings, the historic interiors where they are hung and the newly planned stores which we believe must be ‘open’. The film features interviews with the conservators and our dedicated volunteer teams so reflecting the workings behind the display.
Hospitalfield are very pleased to announce the artists selected for the Graduate Programme 2021. The Mentoring Circle (Sekai Machache, Eoin Dara, Tendai Mutambu and Cicely Farrer) selected 30 artists from an open call for this year’s programme which combines residency with online mentoring. We look forward to welcoming the artists to the programme over the next twelve months.
