Twelve recent graduates from Scottish art schools will come together for an intensive residency this October.
The group, selected by artist Winnie Herbstein and curator Eoin Dara, Head of Exhibitions at Dundee Contemporary Arts, will spend the two weeks working in Hospitalfield’s studios, learning from each other and taking part in a programme of discussions, events and visits.
The artists selected have all graduated from undergraduate or postgraduate courses at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, Edinburgh College of Art, Glasgow School of Art and Gray’s School of Art over the last two years. Each responded to an open call with a proposal and information about their work.
The Graduate Residents are at the stage of negotiating their transition from the influence of their teaching institution to their post-education practice, and the residency aims to:
– Catalyse new research and production of work.
– Develop critical discussion and reflection.
– Build diverse peer networks.
