Our Autumn Visual Art Residency includes artists from around the UK and from Japan.
The Autumn Residents include six selected through our open call to UK and UK based visual artists; two Japanese artists selected through a partnership with ARCUS in Ibaraki Prefecture; and a New Contemporaries Studio Bursary artist.
Aman Sandhu, Andrew Black, Clunie Reid, Katie Shannon, Rachel Reupke and Tom Varley were all selected following an open call early in 2018. The selectors we worked with this year are Steven Cairns, Curator – Artists’ Film and Moving Image at the ICA in London; and the artist Charlotte Prodger.
Through recent investigations into residency organisations in Japan, we have for this year, the opportunity to host two artists for this month long residency. Those artists are Natsumi Aoyagi and Kazuya Takagawa.
We are very pleased to also have the artist Taha Belal here for the last month of his 10 week residency. Belal has been invited by the CCA in Glasgow to undertake a residency in Scotland and we are one of the partners, alongside Cove Park, who have benefited from his time as he could not stay in the CCA due to the fire at the neighbouring Glasgow School of Art. The project is supported by Mophradat.
