Julie Favreau, Jessica Ramm, Joan Eardley at Edinburgh Art Festival
Edinburgh Art Festival opens next week and we are looking forward to seeing two new commissions from Hospitalfield Residents Julie Favreau and Jessica Ramm.
Québécois artist Julie Favreau attended the Autumn Residency in 2014 supported through our partnership with the Royal Over-Seas League. The Edinburgh Art Festival worked with us to select Julie for this residency programme which leads to a commission the following year. Part of Julie’s time at Hospitalfield was spent filming for what has become She century a new video work presented at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Modern Two.
Jessica Ramm attended our Graduate Residency in 2014 after finishing her Master of Fine Art in Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art. Edinburgh Art Festival has selected Jessica alongside three other artists for their new initiative Platform: 2015 for artists at the beginning of their careers. Jessica has been working with rock climbers to explore sculpture and performance in order to make her new work for the festival.
It’s also great to see Joan Eardley included in the programme too with an exhibition at The Scottish Gallery. Joan studied at Hospitalfield in 1947.
